Bondi Icebergs

The story of Bondi Icebergs is one of transformation from a humble swimmer’s refuge into one of Sydney’s most iconic seaside institutions

What began in 1929 as a gathering of hardy local lifesavers determined to stay fit in Bondi’s winter surf evolved into something much bigger than anyone could have predicted. The original structure was modest, a simple clubhouse by the now-historic Bondi Baths where members would change, swap stories, and head out into the icy water.

Hand picked by Restauranter Maurice Terzini as builder for this project, and collaborating with International Designers saw a major 2002 redevelopment that reshaped Icebergs into the multi-level clubhouse and ocean-facing landmark seen today.

This redevelopment brought modern hospitality spaces with sweeping views over the famous tidal pool and Bondi Beach beyond, blending functional public areas with the rich layers of history that define the site.
